F4’s strength explodes in Japan, lands on the magazine covers in a “Meteor Garden” spoof with SMAPSource: ol.mingpao.com ol.mingpao.com/cfm/star5.cfm?File=2...saa01/maa1h.txtMarch 14, 2007 summary by Jerry’s Kingdom Recent years showed that the “Korean wave” gave a stronger influence in Japan than the “Chinese wave”, but the famed group F4 members had become the most popular Chinese stars in Japan today. During their ambassadorship tourism promotion tour in Japan a few days ago, they even guested at the “SMAP x SMAP” show and also went on a Meteor Garden spoof with SMAP. “Minna No Tabo” (JK: A Sanrio Hello Kitty Character) Shingo Katori also came out spoofing the female lead Shan Cai, which also made it hard for F4 to resist. Their Tokyo trip attracted some 5000 fans at the airport, and now they were featured in a Japanese women’s magazine “Women’s Weekly” and even landed to its cover. Only a handful of Chinese stars had actually appeared in their magazine covers in the recent years. Minna No Tabo also braided his hair as Shan Cai Few days ago, F4 were invited to be the special guests in Fuji TV’s lead variety show “SMAP x SMAP”. That program usually guests foreign artists visiting Japan including Michael Jackson and Madonna, and will show the taped episode with F4 in April, in a power cast show of combined group strength of SMAP and F4 in a hilarious spoof of Meteor Garden. where Kimura wears a wig and played a TV director giving instructions. Tsuyoshi Kusanagi played as a student and the funniest was when “Minna No Tabo” braided his hair and played Shan Cai. In the program, both groups played games, where they relayed in mixing up “wan zi” (JK: are these meatballs?) together, and the loosing team was the one who would eat all those very spicy “wan zi” Presented Taiwan’s famous scenic spots After two years of going with solo projects, F4 formed as group again to promote Taiwan tourism in Japan and Korea. During their magazine interview, they promoted Taiwan’s tourist spots and was asked for their recommended places. Vanness promoted Yang Ming mountain first and then go north to Wenquan. Vic suggested Taiwan’s many beautiful islands, and said that when one is going with a girlfriend, she also wouldn’t want to run away anymore.

F4 visits Japan, Shingo dresses up as Shan CaiSource: The Sun (HK) the-sun.on.cc/channels/ent/20070314/March 14, 2007 translated by Jerry’s Kingdom Because of the Taiwanese drama “Meteor Garden”, F4 had become very famous in Japan. A few days ago, while they were on a business trip to promote Taiwan local tourism in Japan, they guested and taped for the next month’s episode of “SMAP x SMAP” variety show. Shingo Katori was dressed as Shan Cai as he greeted F4, complete with a checked skirt and two braided hair, together with Takuya Kimura wearing a wig to spoof the F4 drama, in the midst of roaring laughter at the set. They also played a game of mixing up “wan zi” in one solid mass using a knife, where the loosing team with the smallest “wan zi” gets the penalty of eating the spicy hot “wan zi”. After that, Kimura then declared that it would be F4’s generation from now on while F4 also declared their real admiration to SMAP and highly praised the achievements of its 5 members. Still at the end, they didn’t forget their duty and asked the viewers to come visit Taiwan.

F4 X SMAP spoofed Meteor Garden Jerry played bully to rapid-mouth Shan Cai Source: HK Apple Daily March 14, 2007 translated by Jerry’s Kingdom scanned new clipping by Shumsee of www.jerryyan.org After Japanese idol group SMAP invited visiting Korean stars Lee Young Ae and Song Seung Heon to guest in their famous show “SMAP x SMAP”, they then guested Taiwanese group F4 when they went to Japan for a promotion tour last week. When the two famous groups spoofed “Meteor Garden” during the show, Shingo Katori transformed himself into a rapid-mouth version of Shan Cai, bringing laughter to the audience. Drama “wave” became hotly popular in Japan towards the end of last year. In addition, Jun Matsumoto’s highly-rated lead Japanese drama “Hana Yori Dango 2” will wrap up soon so SMAP took this chance to guest the Taiwanese version F4 who were then attending a Japanese function, to be at their program “SMAP x SMAP”, and played a “Meteor Garden” spoof version in their show. Takuya Kimura struggled to play the lead part of Dao Ming Si, and together with the Taiwanese version Jerry as Dao Ming Si, they both played the classic scene of bullying Shancai. But because the Taiwanese Shan Cai (Da S) is very beautiful, there was no one to take her place. This became easy for Shingo Katori who loves to copy “Minna No Tabo” to play the role. But when he saw Jerry beside Kimura, and guided him how to play cool, Shingo came out of the set complete with two braids and played the oppressed Shan Cai. The rest of F3 continued to act as Lei, Xi Men and Meisuo, where Zaizai was the only one who appeared dim and stunned when he saw Da S being spoofed. After this funny role playing, F4 and SMAP then played the “Hua Yang Chuan Shao” travel show, using a fencing sword in a contest on who would be the first to “seriously” produce as many stringed “wan zi”. Also wearing a wig, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi dashed from behind Zaizai, and for a moment felt intimidated at Zaizai’s height. After that, Takuya again shouted to everyone “After today, it is F4’s generation!” Then, F4 came forward to say “We are very pleased to welcome them in Taiwan. They had always been our model, and we are very happy to be with SMAP.” That episode will be shown most likely in April.

A few days ago, as F4 went to Japan to promote Taiwan tourism, F4 guested with host Kimura in a short spoof on "Meteor Garden", with Shingo Katori as the big mouth Shan Cai. Its the first time for SMAP and F4 in the same stage. Breaking the language barriers, they jointly acted in the short classic scene where DMS bullied Shan Cai and spoofed it. Kimura played a famous TV Ad Producer and gave instructions to Jerry's acting. Shingo playing "Shan Cai" was even clad with braided hair, that brought in more laughter. Fencing Sword strings up the glutinous rice balls All these big guys then came in to play "Fencing Sword Threading the Glutinous Rice Balls" game. Ken and the foot-injured Vanness also danced along Ken Shimura's classic TV ad dance steps. Finally, Kou Wen producers and Kimura declared " From now on, it's F4 generation!" in honor of their 4 handsome Taiwanese guests. That episode will be shown in Japan sometime in April. (skipped the last part about the guesting of Madonna in their program)

Boy Band F4 Invites Korean Fans to TaiwanSource: Korea Times times.hankooki.com/lpage/culture/20...19453011700.htmMarch 12, 2007 By Cathy Rose A. Garcia Staff Reporter or several years now, die-hard fans of Korean actors, actresses and pop stars have been traveling to Seoul to attend fan meetings and concerts. Hallyu or Korean wave has helped boost Korean tourism, thanks to the popularity of Korean dramas, movies and music around Asia. Now Taiwan is using the same tactic, hoping the charm and popularity of boy band F4 will entice Korean tourists to visit the island F4 members Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu and Vic Chou, who gained popularity among Korean fans with its drama ``Meteor Garden” visited Seoul for the first time on Friday. F4 was appointed by Taiwan Tourism Bureau chief Lai Se Zhen as its ambassadors to promote Taiwan tourism to the rest of Asia. Taiwanese boy band F4 are appointed Tourism Ambassadors by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau at the Lotte Hotel in Myongdong, downtown Seoul on March 9. F4 members, from left, are Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu and Vic Chou. /Yonhap Taiwan is hoping to increase the number of Korean tourists going to Taiwan, which is estimated at 200,000 annually, while there are some 400,000 Taiwanese tourists going to Korea annually. To kick off the ``Wish to See You in Taiwan” tourism campaign, F4 announced it is holding a fan meeting in Taipei on April 22. During the press conference, Yan said it has been a long time since F4 reunited as a group, so they are preparing some surprises for their fans during the event. As part of being tourism ambassadors, Chu said F4 will film a commercial for the Tourism Bureau and start working on a TV drama, which will be shot in tourist spots throughout the country. The drama will be aired in Korea and Japan later this year. F4 members talked about their favorite places, including food and tourist attractions in Taiwan, which they hoped would be enjoyed by Korean tourists. Wu said Korean tourists should sample the island’s delicious mangoes, while Chu recommended the hotpot shabu-shabu. Yan said tourists should visit Kaohsiung, a major port city, where he served for 2 years during military service. He added he couldn’t forget the place since it is where his girlfriend broke up with him. F4 is also currently in negotiations with Korean organizers to hold their first concert in Seoul. Wu said they are eager to meet Korean fans, especially after seeing so many enthusiastic fans welcoming them at the airport. F4 members also expressed their desire to work with Korean actors and actresses in the future. Wu, who formed a duo with Korean singer Kangta last year, said he would like to do an action movie with Kwon Sang-woo or Ryu Seung-beum, while Yan said he is a fan of the film ``Old Boy” and its star Choi Min-shik. Chou said he would like to work again with Park Eun-hye, who co-starred with him in the drama ``Silence” and So Ji-sop. Yan, Wu, Chu and Chou gained popularity throughout Asia after starring in the TV drama ``Boys are Prettier than Flowers” and its sequel. F4 has released two albums ``Meteor Rain” and ``Fantasy Forever” and has staged sold-out concerts. However, in recent years, F4 members have concentrated on solo work such as dramas, movies and albums. F4 members have visited Seoul on separate occasions but never as a group. In November 2004, Chou, Chu and Wu attended the Asia Song Festival, while Yan attended the M-net Music TV festival in December 2004.

Taiwanese band hope to draw Korean touristsSource: The Korea Herald www.koreaherald.co.kr/SITE/...00703120010.aspMarch 12, 2007 News transfer: Asian-Bite.com www.asianbite.com/default.asp?Display=681Title: " Taiwan Boy Band F4 in Korea" Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, and Vic Chou (far left) Taiwan's hottest boy band, F4, visited Korea last week for the first time to promote their home country as a tourist destination. Recently appointed as Taiwan's goodwill ambassador by Taiwan's tourism authorities, the quartet includes Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu. They appear to be excited about their new project: making young Korean fans future travelers to Taiwan. "I was so deeply impressed by the Korean fans' passionate outpouring of attention for us at the airport, I felt like I was on stage," Wu said in a news conference at a Seoul hotel last Friday. "The Taiwanese are passionate people, just like the Koreans, so I believe they will be good friends with each other," added Wu, who joined with Korean pop superstar Kangta to form the duo Kangta & Vanness to record an album last year. The band members rose to fame as actors through "Meteor Garden," a Taiwanese teen soap opera based on a Japanese manga "Hana Yori Dango (men are better than flowers)" in 2001. The name of the band, F4, is short for "Flower four," which is the name the four handsome boys went by in the series. F4 has become a household name in Asia ever since. In the same year, they signed a record deal with Sony and have released two hit albums, "Meteor Rain" and "Fantasy 4ever." "Taiwan is a beautiful island country," said Yan who started his entertainment career as a model. "I strongly recommend you to visit the National Palace Museum when traveling Taiwan. Kaohsiung, the second largest city, also has many notable tourist attractions," continued Yan who served in the Taiwanese army. Although the group had not been together for a while, each pursuing a solo career, they still seemed to have a lot more to show as a team, including their first concert in Korea. "Our agency is contacting Korean agents. I hope that all four of us will be able to see you again at a concert," said Chou, who worked with Korean actress Park Eun-hye last year in the Hong Kong television drama "Silence." "It was fun to work with her. I also like So Ji-seop (the star of KBS drama "I am Sorry, but I Love You") because he has eyes with single eyelids, just like Vanness," he joked. Wu, on the other hand, showed great interest in Korean action films. "I wish I could act together with Kwon Sang-woo ("My Tutor Friend") someday and also with Ryu Seung-Beom, the star of 'Arahan,'" said Wu who appeared with a cane because of his sprained foot. Some of his fans seemed to almost feel his pain as their own, but he made their hearts lighter by cheerfully saying "Jigeumeun Gwaenchanayo," or I'm okay now. "I have been familiar with Korean culture and language from when I was very young," said Wu, a powerful and charismatic rapper, who claims to be a close friend of such renowned K-pop stars as Shin Hye-sung, Kim Jo-han (former singer of R&B trio Solid) and Lee Ji-hoon. As a goodwill ambassador, the group will also be involved in the production of a 25-part television series titled "Wish to See you in Taiwan," sponsored by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. "Try ma la huo guo in Taiwan, which is Taiwanese-style hot and spicy shabu shabu. And don't miss mango sherbet," said Chu, a multi-talented artist who speaks five languages. The Asian heartthrobs left for Taiwan on Saturday, after three in the country. (danlee@heraldm.com) By Lee Yong-sung

It's our date!Source: Suzuno's Blog blog.sina.com.cn/u/48df372c010009nzMarch 17, 2007 blog message translated by jerryskingdom.tk Chosen as Taiwan's ambassadors for Tourism, China Wave's No.1 group recently stepped foot in Japan once again, to begin another wave of the F4 craze. These Japanese F4 fans cried out their deep admiration. Hearing these charming voices, whose woman's heart would not beat for them? Jerry: Of course I can bring you to to the beach.. or even the mountains if you want...Don't tell me you don't think its romantic? Vanness: Yes, I can bring you to every kind of restaurant. It will not only let you experience a taste of Taiwanese cuisine but also Italian, steaks and many more tasty food stuffs. Ken: I could bring you to the north of Wenquan. We could be together in a Wenquan jacuzzi and have many cheerful talks. Vic: I can bring you to the small islands. Taiwan is surrounded by many beautiful small islands with great scenery and romantic ambiance. Most of all, when I bring you to the islands, you won't be able to run away..haha... (Jerry interrupts: Others would just won't like to run away anymore!..) Strongly agrees! If you plan to go to Taiwan based on the F4 date travel talk, it's like thinking you are guaranteed for a beautiful idol encounter. It's more than the "Women's magazine" pictures and any interview transcript. F4 are the leading pioneers of China Wave (Hua Liu). In 2002 (?), Meteor Rain went though all over Southeast Asia and also in Japan. Many Japanese gilrs were struck by F4. However, the mainstream media was not keen at the shining of F4 as against to their reporting to Korean stars again and again. When they brought Japanese subtitles to "Meteor Garden" , they aired it only in the wee hours at 2-3 am. But as usual, fans kept bitterly looking forthat F4 sting and traces, or make stop ups at the airports to fly and visit Taiwan so they can see and meet them .Now, when 4000 fans turned up at the airport to welcome their arrival, fans only saw them briefly, in a narrow and orderly line, cheering for them. This made Jerry felt very sorry that they had little time for them. I'm also an F4 fan already. In Japan, after I watched the first episode I immediately thought that they are full of aggressiveness with a little devilish character. The very handsome Dao Ming Si is so enchanting to look at. When I went to Shanghai, I also brought along a VCD set on my return. Several of my female colleagues are also F4 fans. Some likes Jerry whie some likes Zaizai... In the inauguration of my lady boss' beauty shop,we both talked about F4. When she heard I also like Jerry, she then also wanted to learn Chinese, so she can speak with Jerry when she comes to see him Taiwan. But because she's too far for me to teach her, finally I still haven't taught her anything. I don't know if she still wants to learn it. Japanese TV networks had seen the Taiwanese "Meteor Garden" sensation in Southeast Asia, and I cant help to be tickled. A Japanese version also began filming. I only watched the first episode and yet I could no longer stand it, it's really too far from comparison. However, I heard that Japanese high school girls all love to watch it. The TV ratings are also very high. But only those F4 Japanese fans who watched the Taiwanese Meteor Garden knows how poor the Japanese version is. Loyal fans also reasons out that NO ONE COULD REPLACE JERRY! My daughter also couldn't satnd this Japanese Dao Ming Si..

F4 attracts 5,000 fans venue not enough for the crowdSource: China Times showbiz.chinatimes.com/Chinatimes/E...007032000326,00 .html March 20, 2007 IMPORTANT NOTICE: FOR READING PURPOSES ONLY.PLEASE DO NOT REPOST OR TRANSFER W/O JERRY'S KINGDOM'S EXPLICIT PERMISSION.THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.It looks like F4 as a market sales plan to boost Taiwan tourism are now bringing in results! For the scheduled April 22 F4 Japanese and Korean International Fans Gathering to be held in Taiwan, travel agencies' list of tourists coming for the event and Taiwan tour package has been filled to capacity, and in which the venue to be used will not be enough to accommodate the 5000 participants. Traffic Ministry's Tourism Bureau is now mapping out to look for another bigger venue. The Tourism Bureau estimates that the F4 endorsement will increase Taiwan Japanese and Korean tourist influx by 7%, which can immediately earn 42 Hundred million dollars of business opportunities for Taiwan. Tourism Bureau's International Project Head Huang Jing Hu pointed out that the F4 Fan Gathering and Tour of Taiwan travel package includes the travel trips and lodging, plus a free travel bag(?). According to the list of those who reserved for lodging , tourist groups spent 60,000 to 110,000 yens (about NT$20,000 to 30,000). According to the travel agents, their data showed that their Japanese and Korean tourists could reach from 8,000 to 9,000 people, so the originally planned Taiwan University Alumni Auditorium venue for the Fan Gathering will not be enough for the huge crowd. The Tourist Bureau has requested the 26 travel agencies to supply them with a list of the final number of Korean and Japanese tourists coming, so that they can arrange for a more suitable and bigger venue.
