When I arrived at Narita airport, I had no idea that there are this much friends who came to meet me. At that time, I was really very touched and felt happy.

On your way from the Narita airport to the hotel, have you thought about knowing some of them?

Jerry: Inside the car, I dozed off. Afterwards, I suddenly thought do I have to use Japanese in greeting them during the event? How should I greet everybody? These questions kept on circling in my mind.


Which words have you thought of saying in Japanese?

Jerry: hmmm (very shyly speaks in Japanese) "shiyawashedeshu" (I'm very happy) and "ureishiideshu" (I'm in a very cheerful mood). I really like these two Japanese words. Honestly, before I came to Japan, I had to learn Japanese from a Language teacher. When teacher taught me these two words, I immediately thought I must personally say these two words.

Every time you come to Japan, what must you certainly do?

Jerry: I wish I can take a walk, and to have time to go to an electronics store and window-shop. Japanese appliances are up-graded quickly. Even though I'm not buying, I want to go inside and take a look. I had tried it once and I was very happy.

Is there something you bought in Japan that you still use until now?

Jerry: There is! It's a very cheap buy. (smiles). 5 years ago when I first came to Japan, I bought a second-hand T-shirt in Harajuku. I still wear it often. (laughs).

What have you brought it to Japan today?

Jerry: No I haven’t. It's in my house in Taiwan.. Honestly, I don’t pay much attention on what I wear, even just a little attention. (smiles) If you present to me some clothes, I wont be provoked. That t-shirt was bought on impulse.

We heard that on on your several trips to Japan, did you eat ramen noodles?

What happened:
1. I wonder whether you remember: Last year, AC led Zai and Da S inviting several TW newspapers to promote Mars and Silence in Japan. At that time, AC worked with Parco Department Store in Tokyo and set up Zai as its endorser for the White Valentine's Day in Japan.

2. Since F4 have started to gain some attention in Japan, F3 (except Jerry) have been arranged by FL/AC to promote their dramas and to meet fans in Japan representing F4. I think in around July/August this year (I don't know the exact date as I am not like some fans of others who pay more attention on the rival than the idol), Zai had a meet session with Japanese fans in Japan and about 400-500 fans attended.

3. On Sept. 8 and 9, 2006, Jerry had three meet sessions with 5000 fans attended for each. According to Japanese fans, not much promotion was noticed before the dates of meet sessions. In other words, if a fan who doesn't have the habit of going online, she may not know about Jerry's meet sessions until he arrived. It was the same in TW. When the information of Jerry's having meet session in Japan first came out, it was just circulated on the web among fans. As fans' responses were so great, after the 2nd and 3rd sessions were added, news started to be reported in some newspapers in TW about Jerry's meet sessions in Japan. As this was the first time for Jerry to meet fans and to promote TH in Japan, reporters from 5 TW newspapers were invited to go with Jerry. Facts have proved that it was a huge success, and it has shown to the people in TW(especially those who think that all Japanese/Korean stars are definitely better than TW's) that a star from TW can create a storm in Japan as well and it has set the standards for a lot of other idols in TW. More interesting: Min Sheng Bao's reporter wrote "When asked about the anonymous letter received by all the big TW media a while ago about 'facts of YCX's being greedy for money', Zaizai looked puzzled and asked his agent about it..." Thanks the reporter from Min Sheng Bao proved that there was anonymous letter sent by someone. This letter was sent by some "Yan Mi" (please note that Jerry's fans usually call ourselves "Xu Mi" meaning Xu's fans, but not "Yan Mi") who pretended to be Jerry's fans and one's name was even called "Gang Wan" (nbbbs' Chinese name is YCX Gang Wan. As an actor, from your 2003 movie Magic Kitchen then after 2 1/2 years you had The Hospital. What changes have done to yourself in that 2 1/2 years?

Jerry: Some people would always look at me as an idol. But now in The Hospital, I worked together with Director Cai and the veteran performers supporting cast while letting them to accept me. Thus, I really focused my talent into this role.
