here is nice fan blog post.... ___________ Praises for Cai Yue Xun---Taiwan's 8pm time slot have been saved!Source: fish' news blog tw.myblog.yahoo.com/jw!Z6j0AKyZGQSn8MonTw_BEg--/article?mid=33&pk=%E8%A8%80%E6%89%BF%E6%97%AD March 15, 2007 translated by jerryskingdom.tkIMPORTANT NOTICE: PLS. THANK YOU FOR COMPLYING.Ever since The Hospital was shown, I became hooked at the 8pm time slot, and because of the long time that I have refused to watch that 8 pm time slot Sometimes, I don't feel that even the news have anything valuable to watch for, or simply I dont watch the first half but only watch the later half, throwing it away except by watching the idol viewpoint. I like author Hou Wen Yong and Cai Yue Xun's drama commitment and hard work. which after watching, only then one would really find the scene's mirror of life but also even the TV background music was strictly checked on. Even if Jerry's acting skills in the drama was rather criticized, yet his portrayal compared to his earlier acting can already be considered a well-rounded point, especially being among those many veteran artists all acting together in the drama. Most especially, I want to explain that this drama already finished its film editing, therefore, it's not really possible that he would appear like in the many dragging 8 pm time slot dramas from now on, so that a good-looking person deserves a good-looking recommendation for everyone!

Yan Cheng Xu's (Jerry) lead drama "The Hospital" created a stir in Taiwan last year. Originally planned to air this Spring in Japan, but was constantly delayed but finally determined to be shown on October over at Japan's NHK network which is also their inaugural venture into Chinese dramas. Jerry, through his manager Billy said, "I'm very happy." The first Chinese drama in this channel In order to keep up with Director Cai Yue Xun's demands, Jerry threw meticulous time and care in The Hospital. This year his name will be submitted for the Golden Bell nominations for Best Actor award, finally breaking away from his idol image, and use his strength as an actor. Recently, as there were good rumors that The Hospital will be shown over at NHK, Jerry and Janine, together with some of the main cast will all go to Japan to promote. In the past, when NHK shown Bai Yong Jun's "Winter Sonata", it created the Korean Wave to all Japanese viewers. After Jerry attracted thousands of Japanese fans, this time, The Hospital will be the first Chinese serial to climb over at NHK, and to raise the peoples' interest to another higher level once again.

Jerry Yan uncovers the hospital's dark sides in "Bai Se Ju Ta"Source: wenweipo.com paper.wenweipo.com/2007/04/11/EN0704110026.htmApril 11, 2007 summary by jerryskingdom.tkIMPORTANT NOTICE: FOR YOUR READING ONLY. DO NOT FORWARD OR TRANSFER ELSEWHERE. PLEASE SECURE PERMISSION FROM JERRY'S KINGDOM IF YOU WANT TO TRANSFER. THANK YOU.Wu Meng Da portrays as Surgical Department Head, but because of an accident he unexpectedly lost the chance to be President. Based on the original novel "Bai Se Ju Ta" of famous Taiwanese doctor-author Hong Wen Yong, it could be said that the TV serial version, produced at a staggering cost of NT$4 million (approximately HK$960,000) for each episode, is a record Breaker in Taiwanese TV history. Jerry plays a medical department surgeon Dr. Su Yi Hua, who works among doctors who had motives in pursuing their own interests and launched a power struggle with a higher up Wu Meng Da. The director, aside from uncovering the real dark sides in a hospital setting, also conveyed another message: Everyone, please treasure your life. Cant help but to praise Jerry for finally taking down his idol figure just for this drama. Also worthy to note is Dai Li Ren, his role is the twisted Dr. Qui Qing Cheng, in an illicit love affair with the TV reporter Ma Yi Fen but finally however, he paid a high price because of his ambition. This role required many intense feelings, but Dai Li Ren managed to come up with a detailed performance.

One of the creditable review from Singapore, very professional - cut from next door Chinese NBBS posted my Yami Armodon's Reviews source: armodons.blogspot.com/2007/03/hospital.html Friday, March 30, 2007 The HospitalThe Hospital is perhaps the greatest Taiwanese TV drama ever. This is definitely a top-notch production. With a star-studded cast and a great source material (the novel of the same name), the Hospital is great in every respect. While at first glance, this may seem to be a rip off ER or other such established medical shows, the Hospital is original in that it takes the good elements from previous medical dramas and runs with it. It is the ability of the producers to bring out these elements that make the Hospital truly unique. The Hospital stars Jerry Yan, formerly of F4 glory and is directed by Tsai Yueh Hsun, who created the hugely successful Meteor Garden series. Yan's character is rising surgeon who gets caught up in the political strugle within the hospital that occurs as two department heads fight for the position of chief-of-staff. It is a vicious battle, with sacrifice and loss on both sides. Unwittingly, Yan's character is dragged deeper and deeper into the struggle, and soon he must choose a side. Adding to the confusion is a female coworker Yan has chased after for 10 years. As his personal and professional life become indistinguishable, Yan must decide what his real goals are and what he is willing to give up to realize them. Political struggle is not something one would normally associate with a hospital, and it is amazing to see it realized on screen. The Hospital shows that such struggles are commonplace, in every aspect of life. They continue onwards, bringing forth a vicious cycle, as each succeeding generation is forced by the system to rise thru the ranks. As one of the characters say, that's the way the game works. In order to do what he wants, he must first amass power. And if sacrifices have to be made along the way, so be it. Such brutal executions bring forth many questionable judgements, and the audience will find that their ethical sense is challenged at every turn of the story. The surprising thing is that, as the audience gets to know the characters, it will appear that no one is wrong. There're winners and losers, but no one is right and no one is wrong. The two do not equate, and The Hospital exemplifies this beautifully. It is when the audience begins to take sides that the twists in the plotline prove all the more astonishing, and ultimately satisfying. The characters in the story are all very dynamic. Each of them come alive, as they each strive toward their own clear purposes, with many of them changing their perspectives along the way. This great feat is achieved in part due to the spectacular acting. There are a lot of actors/actresses present, lending a greater feel to the story. There is never a point where the drama felt repetitive or slow, as is often the case with long dramas with a rather small cast (The Hospital is 39 episodes long). I was pleasantly surprised at the believable performances from the cast, which was helped in part by the small use of "young" talent. Contrary to Meteor Garden, where the entire staff seems to be under 30 and the acting was sub-par, The Hospital aims to be a serious drama, and it largely succeeds due to the realistic setting it employs. Other than the main actor/actress, the rest of the staff appears to be veterans, giving the drama solid production values. With an emphasis toward portraying human-human interactions in as realistic a manner as possible, the "sappy" feeling that may otherwise surround The Hospital does not exist. Although some viewers may find that this detracts from the romantic elements in the story, I find that the concentrated bursts is more akin to real life. Work doesn't take a break for personal relationships, and the two intertwine at the hospital where everyone works, creating a hotbed of drama potential waiting to be unlocked in the series. One area I found disconcerting was the pace of time progression in the story. Many major events occur in short succession, and a change of scenary often indicates a passage of several months. This quick movement of time occurs throughout the series, making the story sometimes a little hard to swallow. Even as the characters all behave plausibly in their life, the situations that crop up are not entirely so. This is noticeable many times, as important characters move on in the story. While one would expect them to return at some point, the story seemingly abandons them and continues on with the remaining cast. Thus, sometimes the drama does seem to get carried away, trying too hard to distinguish itself, to be different, to be captivating at all times, with no dull moments. This actually creates the opposite effect at times. But these are little concerns in relation to the entire production. The Hospital is a great drama series that is well worth watching, if only to reach the end and understand the overall themes and morals being expressed throughout the story. The Hospital does not try to answer questions about life; it merely raises them. That is perhaps its greatest asset - it tends to ask the right ones. Pros: Great depiction of the inherent struggle in life; great acting all around; good message! Cons: Some elements that are not entirely fleshed out; not for those wanting a mindless show (especially the younger crowd) Conclusion: This should be on everyone's must-watch list! Score: 4.5/5

The Hospital Mar 26, '07 10:10 PM posted by Yami at Chinese NBBS
This is one is from Singapore, too. source: flyingpan.multiply.com/journal/item/14I'm not a fan of Taiwanese dramas; Neither am I a fan of F4 nor Jerry Yan. But I'm hooked on The Hospital - ”’F‹“ƒ on Channel U at 7.30pm every weekend. Based on an adaptation of the same book written by Taiwanese author Hou Wen Yong, the story about complicated relationships between corrupted doctors in a hospital is real intriguing. The series is nothing typical of the usual soapbox auntie dramas. Instead there're a lot of stylish camera angles. The characters are natural with every scene done with good depth. It's an exceptional Taiwanese production. You just have to catch it. When I entered this profession.. I swore to myself.. That I will give everything to serve humanity.. Bearing a good and respectable attitude towards my profession..... Bearing in mind, only the sickness of my patients...

Surprisingly, a news article by Nan Fang Du Shi Bao (Guangzhou, Mainland China) gave Jerry's acting in TH satisfactory scores. Jerry's acting in TH was scored in 5 different areas, from 75 to 85 points. Said it was rare, as this newspaper's reporting style is like Liberty Times that it rarely has good words on Jerry. This time, although the scores were relatively not high enough, at least the critique was mostly not harsh, or even fair, such as "Allow us to see a Yan Cheng Xu who has successfully got away from idol drama", "Yan Cheng Xu fully displayed Su Yi Hua's characteristics", "it was a comprehensive test for Yan Cheng Xu's acting and he performed well in every aspect following his heart", etc... Having satisfactory scores by Nan Fang Du Shi Bao can be considered as "Good" actually.
Heard that there were totally 4 pages about TH and they are mainly for HKTVB's broadcast tomorrow

Taiwanese version "The Hospital" will be shown in Hong Kong, Jerry Yan's acting skills is put to a test Source: ent.tom. ent.tom.com/2007-04-20/001F/12921302.htmlApril 20,2007 translated by jerryskingdom.tkIMPORTANT NOTICE: FOR YOUR READING PLEASURE ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD OR REPORT ELSEWHERE WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION FROM JERRY;S KINGDOM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.Jerry YanAmong F4, it's Zaizai Vic Zhou who takes root in filming Taiwanese idol dramas. It's Vanness Wu who dances and sings hot and is trending the international while Ken Zhu is turning into getting local and traditional drama roles. It's only Jerry Yan who is busy each day, with the highest endorser fee, but it seemed he have not come up with any special project lately. As to his impression, it's also dwells somewhere over that head comb, jeering in a " If apology is useful, who needs the police?" stage. Luckily, he had "The Hospital!" This serial breaks all of Taiwan's production costs record, per episode talent fee record, audience reception record and instrumental auction record, all because Jerry Yan joined the lineup of powerful cast of heavyweight stars, as the lead in the medical drama. This Saturday at 9:30 pm over at TVB channel, on its first day telecast, they would do an unprecedented 1 1/2 hour special episode, Every Saturday thereafter, Jerry Yan will be watched wearing his white gown every 10:30 pm. This is the first time, where Jerry is no longer playing the role of the cool Dao Ming Si. but a 35 year old planner who longs for real love, the principled eddy and hard struggling Dr. Su Yi Hua as he prepares to receive praises from all walks of life. His acting skills escalated in all tests...and passed it all! Topic: Dwelling among the neutral group in the swirl of power struggle Answer : Inherent natural performance, coming out strong in his sunny smiles
Score: 80 Jerry played the role of a expert doctor of the surgical department, the hospital's youngest University Professor Su Yi Hua was a dedicated doctor to his patients. However, like in other hospitals, there was a cold war surging up between the surgical and medical department heads fighting for authority, and the clueless Su Yi Hua was forced to choose which side was he in. The President's only daughter who had Leukemia must undergo surgery but the Medical Department and not the Surgical Department approved on Su Yi Hua as the surgeon in charge for this surgery. The surgical Department Head raged in complaint and snatched the surgery process from Su Yi Hua. For Jerry, this was the least of his problems. He was a bachelor just looking for real love and only wanted to look after the welfare of his patients, and to spend his own time together with his 10 year old love with Guan Xin. Again, an all-sunny and clueless Jerry Yan's only natural performance was seen in this part. Representative Scene Originally, it should have been Su Yi Hua who should had performed the surgery, but because the Surgical Department Head's selfish motives, he angrily snatched the surgery from Su Yi Hua. When Guan Xin asked Su Yi Hua on how he felt on this, Su Yi Hua said that he didn't mind, as long as it is for the good of the patient. Guan Xin had no choice but to say," Sometimes, I really don't know if your are naive or simple." Su Yi Hua just smiled and sincerely replied," I always wanted to use my naiveness to keep me simple." Topic: Experiencing to be together with his beloved woman only to end up separated again Answer: Comprehensive test on Jerry's acting skills, as if breaking away from his own self
Score: 75At first, Su Yi Hua was just a warm taker, a very simple-minded person, with some "superficial" male nature, especially in hesitating to propose to Guan Xin. Jerry Yan completely came out this natural as Su Yi Hua In the power struggle within the hospital, Su Yi Hua only persistently used his own "simplicity." However, along with the years of practicing his expertise and a rich life's experiences, the original energetic and simple Su Yi Hua became a cold deserted man not easy to get close to. When it was his first time to make medical rounds as the Surgical Department Head, he threw down on the floor the medical files to his subordinates. In his first time in the surgery, he was scolding angrily to his assistant, and no longer continued performing the surgery. These are all shaping the same man as the Surgical Department Head, that tested Jerry's acting skills the most. Of course the best tests were his two drama scenes with the female lead Guan Xin, that revealed to the people Jerry's break way from idol dramas. Representative SceneOne, Su Yi Hua and Guan Xin had issues all along, he knew that there was a person between the two of them but has no idea on who that person was, until that day when he knocked at Guan Xin's door, and he saw his own University Professor (Fei Xiang's role), only then it suddenly devastatingly cleared up. At first, he thought of himself, as he held his happy hands, but suddenly when he was about to fall down, Su Yi Hua then staggered running away along the stairs, and fell down on the grounds crying his pain out, struggling his despairs and contradictions. Two, Su Yi Hua married after a year and eventually met Guan Xin again. In the past year, that cold and deserted Su Yi Hua immediately returned to his former self. He was constantly raising his head up in order to stop his tears from falling. He felt sorry asking Guan Xin, " I can also give you happiness!?". This is the part the person would loved the most. As Guan Xin was leaving, and Su Yi Hua looked at her going afar and called her out," Guan Xin!". Guan Xin turned back to him and both of them looked at each other. Then Su YI Hua slowly said," Goodbye." And then he fell down on his feet on the ground and cried in pain, because he knew that this feeling will really no longer be with him forever. According to Taiwan media reports, these parts are the killer scenes in the entire drama. When these scenes' filming were completed, Jerry only mulled over on how much he would cry out on the second time, that female lead Janine Zhang got scared on Jerry's excitement. As she began to go with him in the crying scene, and after the camera scenes already ended, Jerry still couldn't control his tears, as he fell on his feet on the street continuously crying in pain. The staff and crew were even moved, not daring to disturb him, and had to discreetly accompany him in crying. ********************** TO BE CONTINUED We are sorry we can't go on for now.. This article is so good that we ended up imagining Jerry in the last part of this article. It's too touching, we were carried away and also crying again...

To take advantage and succeed in attack and pursuit, the government must be vigorousSource: China Times news.chinatimes.com/Chinatimes/ExteriorContent/Travel/travel-list/0,4232,11051701+112007050400312,00.html May 5, 2007 translated by Jerry's Kingdom When looking up at the upsurging wave of idol dramas endorsing scenic spots, was started of course by F4's leading serial "Meteor Garden." Recently, as several thousands of Japanese and Korean fans came to Taiwan to pursue their stars, they also pursued the sceneries, in unmatched expedition. Director Cai Yue Yun's , "the Hospital" have not yet shown but already created a sensation, several hundred Japanese fans armed with self-made "Travel Taiwan through The Hospital" manual, several hundred Japanese fans went on their trips. These past two days, travel agencies are already discussing with the main "The Hospital" filming sceneries crew, wishing that after The Hospital will be shown in Japan, the Taiwan travel agencies "have already prepared well" on their reception plans for "The Hospital fans" coming for a Taiwan get-away. It's worth to discuss, that the idol dramas showing scenic spots will already be enough for the Taiwanese viewers. However, for foreign viewers, it's all about on how will they get "close" to the drama's beautiful filming locations. Like these many "exported" idol dramas, the all- Asian famous "Meteor Garden" most energetically attracted particularly the Japanese to come to Taiwan, as well as The Hospital clipping on Jerry Yan's charms, hoping it can create another wave of upsurge in Japan, :Das "White Paper Love" and "Love Potion Master" became famous in Hong Kong. This way of idol dramas spurred a lot of tourist influx coming to Taiwan, but it seems it has not successfully took advantage of the attack and pursuit. The government put a lot of effort and pounded down much silver coins again, that it had become difficult to regret, and now coming up with two wins - to make idol dramas appear from being a dark cloud into hot phenomena and shake it to become a match against Korean dramas "Jewel in the Palace" and "Winter Sonata," admirable sceneries. Related agencies must now think deeper. in order to become a continuous hot ferment topic.
